Markets served:
- Regional biodiesel producers: 1 - 15 million gallon / yr (4K MT - 60K MT/yr)
- Truck fleet operators that make their own biodiesel
- Biodiesel producers & distributors to government agencies; Federal, county and city fleets (mandated by Federal laws to purchase biodiesel when available).
- Regional marine diesel fuel distributors
- Municipal waste facilities - convert waste oil that pollutes the landfill to higher value biodiesel fuel. This plant becomes a profit center for the disposal company.
- Rural areas in US and foreign countries. Both private companies and government agencies benefit where local high yield oil crops provide the very low cost fuel feed stock. Local areas may become energy self-sufficient using biodiesel for both electrical generators and transportation.
- Farm coops serving regional members
- University Engineering departments for research and development.
Biodiesel in Europe
Europe is the leader in biodiesel use.
- In Europe the EU has mandated that by 2005 fuel consumption by energy content shall be 2% biofuel; by 2010 it shall be 5.75%.
- Germany is the biodiesel leader, with France and Italy also producing substantial amounts biodiesel.
- 1.5 million tons of biodiesel (estimated) was produced and sold in Germany in 2005, (125,745,000 gal).
- In 2006 it will increase 25% to 2.0 million tons.
- Germany has 1,900 biodiesel filling stations.
- With tax incentives it ranges from 10 to 17 cents/liter less than diesel, at the pump.
- Up to 5% biodiesel may be blended without labeling in Germany. Shell, ARAL/ BP, OMV, Total and Orlen use biodiesel in most of their diesel fuels.
